design

When I zone into a new project I consider the target audience and the personality of my client. This determines how much fun I can have with the design. The estimated content of my new project will affect the design and development and can be classified on a spectrum. From one point it can be very basic or overly complex. The simpler the site design, the more visible your content hierarchy will become – the more complex a design – can overpower the content. Each project and client will need a different degree of complexity depending on their product and audience.

I specialise in:

  • Website layout design;
  • User interface design for online applications, backend systems; and
  • Brand design & stationary designs.

I do not specialise in:

  • Logo design;
  • Backend development;
  • Advanced Flash animations or motion graphics (full–flash websites, 3D, flash intros); and
  • Complex vector illustrations.

Having your site custom designed instils trust between you and your target audience. It looks professional, it is easy to use and thought out and instils a good user experience.

As a freelancer I can relate to this comic and I this should be recommended reading for any potential client, so that they understand how frustrating they can be:   http://theoatmeal.com/comics/design_hell
